I am using the Columned-type portfolio and when I create columned text boxes (instead of the default centered one-column), the alignment is off as can be seen in attached screenshot.
I played around a custom css to .vc_row but it affected my alignment in other pages. What can I do to align my columns with the header and portfolio images?

Visual Composer plugin has done a lot off changes on their 5.0 update. We will try to do something about this on our next updates as I already wrote this on our to-do list.

Please click Edit on that portfolio. Go to Parameters and Options > Custom CSS and add this CSS code:

However, does that mean that I need to add a custom css to every single portfolio item which I choose to display this way?
Is there no solution to fix the cause of misalignment?

You can add that exact CSS code on Laborator > Custom CSS if you want it to be valid for every project that you have used Visual Composer in it.
