I'm not a super pro for WP so I have several questions:
1. I would like to use a video as home thumbnail and hero for my portfolio project. Is this plugin support? https://wordpress.org/plugins/video-thumbnails/ ? Or do you have an integrated solution for video or gif?
2. Can I show text hover the home thumbnail in addition to the hover effect?

1. The GIF thumbnails work on all post types, while the video thumbnails work only on Blog post types, unfortunately the plugin you posted is not compatible with the theme.
