Question 3 - I am using a portfolio page as my home page and the portfolio items as articles, can I put a slider with my latest portfolio items at the top of the page (which is my home page basically)?
Wow this is the first time that i see an Wordpress site with 70+ plugins installed, hope that you are just testing a lot of them haha.
1— Wordpress will handle this by creating multiple thumbnails and place them when needed, so you don't need to worry about this. Just upload your best image size.
2— To do that just deactivate this option from Theme Options
