here is a functionality I expected to be: one click to open a window, paste a URL and be done. And for a hover effect the choice between a couple of effects. No such thing here. I cannot get either to work. Here to explain in detail, supported by screenshots.
1. my setup for permalinks
2. I go to the portfolio page and press Add New, go for Image
3. get this box. Nothing there yet where to put a URL in. I press Add picture
4. this window opens, nothing here for a URL
5. when the picture is in place I click the little pencil in the circle I am back at window 4
6. on the other hand, if I insert a picture into the text editor
7. this pops up and I can fill in the URL
8. Likewise if I double click the picture in the text editor, the little pencil comes up and brings me here
Let me not go into the different permutations of options I went through to achieve any one hover effect. None worked.
aha, if it’s that I can send you the screenshots. I turned them into a pdf because only a certain number of screenshots are allowed to ship at one time. So I'll do it in two
I just had a professional here and he showed me how to set up the portfolio page so that it offers links to follow-up pages. I just didn’t know and set it up wrong.
I still haven’t figured out how to properly set up a portfolio structure. When I chose lets say the Zig Zag portfolio and pull a picture into the text editor I can give this picture a URL where to go to when I click it. Not so the pictures I set up in the Zig Zag portfolio. There is no field anywhere to put the URL.
It seems to work somehow if I set up portfolio categories, put in a preview picture or whatever you call the picture box under the Porfolio Category box. And somewhere around there I lost it.
Is that WP specific or Kalium/Laborator specific? Do you have a Tutorial for Dummies about that?
You cannot link these images that are in this portfolio type, they are made for the portfolio purpose so they will show like plain images or will be linkable only to their higher resolution.
Hi Art, now that I know how not to do it, please give me a step by step explanation how to do it. Something like this:
1. select portfolio category
2. create a new category, let’s call it Collection
3. Go (where now?) and select the layout for this category, let’s say Zig Zag
4. Fill in the pictures, one for each portfolio item you want to link to
5. go to All Porfolio items, to the item you want to link with one of the pictures in the Collections category, go to QuickEdit and tick the category "Collection".
6. Add the "Beitragsbild" on the right of the page, pick the picture that corresponds with the picture in the Collection category.
7. - 12. Lorem ipsum lorem ipsum
You see, I could go on and on with all the foggy or laborious explanations I found in the Internet. They all end up not working for me. The Laborator Documentation doesn’t offer anything like that at all.
hard to believe, I finally managed to build my first portfolio. And here is a question to my second one:
The first portfolio is a one column masonry layout. If I want a two or three column masonry for another portfolio category, will that change my first one?

What's wrong with my setup?
Thank you for your patience, Goso
Hi Goso,
Can you please upload the file somewhere in any server and paste the link here as the support system is having issues with different file types.
Best regards,
Laborator Team
Hi Art
I am not sure how to do that. Which file and where do I find it? If anything I tight the file is on the server of my hosting provider.
Goso
Hi Goso,
You can upload it somewhere like Dropbox or here:

Laborator Team
Hi Art,
please tell me which file you mean and where I find it.
Kindly
Goso
Hi Goso,
I mean the screenshots Link and hover.pdf because it is not working, I couldn't open it.
Best regards,
Laborator Team

and the second batch
Hi Goso,
Can you give me the page where you're trying to do this, I will check it by myself.
Best regards,
Laborator Team
Hi Art,
I just had a professional here and he showed me how to set up the portfolio page so that it offers links to follow-up pages. I just didn’t know and set it up wrong.
If I cannot crack it, I will get back to you
Kindly, Goso

Goso
Hi Goso,
What's your issue now, cause for the last issue you had I told you that images cannot be linked to an external link, as stated in my last reply.
Best regards,
Laborator Team
Hi Art,
hard to believe, I finally managed to build my first portfolio. And here is a question to my second one:
The first portfolio is a one column masonry layout. If I want a two or three column masonry for another portfolio category, will that change my first one?
Kind regards, Goso
Hi Goso,
If you build your other Portfolios and set these settings inside that page the other pages will not change.
Best regards,
Laborator Team
