    Hi from Austria,

    spent two days of intense seatch for a nice wp-theme and finally bought kalium, whiche is clean, reduced, nordic - nice & appealing.

    however, i'm not a wp expert nor do i want to program. my current wp-theme offers templates for everything and that is what i expected also toget from kalium; at least for the sample pages shown under http://themes.laborator.co/#theme=kalium

    i couldn't be more wrong, not even a template for the about page :( the doc mentiones one for the team page, but there simply doesnt't show up anything in the template combo of a new post?

    i have so many basic questions, which i like to be covered by a simple "get started paper":

    - how do i create an entry page with 3 automatically played pictures (ken burns effect?) like in the main demo?

    - how do i create a simple one page site with parallax effect (seen in many of the demos)? (like in the main demo) wy aren't you offering some built in basic sliders as a starting point?

    - the demo content provided is nice, but useless, since only one, irreversible import can be done - but i need to have a look at all to learn something. why not provide a document with screenshots for the most essential features & setting?

    it seems to me that without a deeper knowledge of the included components like visual comoser and the sliders i'm really stuck - frustrating, because i simply wanted to apply templates to my existing site. now it seems that i have to start over again from the scratch plus have to learn programming wp...

    Hi Robert,

    Thank you very much for your kind words, and sorry for the delay of your ticket, that's happening because we had some obligations and where not on the offie on Monday.

    1— We have used Revolution Slider on our homepage of the Main Demo. You can import the demo content of our Main demo and it will be much easier for you to understand how we have made elements of theme and modify them.

    To import any of our demos, you can go to Laborator > Demo Content Installer.

    2— We offer those sliders and you can import them separately (http://drops.laborator.co/11HrV) or install demo content of our theme as i wrote on the first question.

    You can also create your parallax with the Visual Composer plugin, it's very easy, i just made a little video tutorial for you http://drops.laborator.co/1dr7s

    3— You can find documentation on this site Kalium Documentation, we will try to add more documentation very soon.

    We also have offer some video tutorials on youtube https://www.youtube.com/user/LaboratorCreative/playlists

    And if you have any problem or question, we are always here for you!

    Hi Ylli,

    thanks for your reply - help is very much appreciated. Delay in response? Which delay ;-)?
    I have 3 more questions:

    1 - the video you provided me for the parallax effect inside VC  - there is no play or download button??

    2 - how can I use icons directly in html text? I was looking for some shortcodes to insert?

    3 - problems with google maps - SOLVED

    4 - icons seem to be more indented than text? rather than to indent eg. the text below is there a possibility to apply a "negative margin" to the icon (to move it eg. a little bit more to the left)?

    5 - I want to display the scocial_networks in the footer with style display_type="icon-text" (like it is adjustable inside the VC) - how to achieve that?

    Thanks in advance for your comments,

    Robert

    Hi Robert,

    1— Ups sorry for that, the link was corrupted http://drops.laborator.co/1dr7s

    2— Can you please try to be very specific about the question and explain it more to us, in this way we can easily understand you and give you the proper answer.

    4— Can you please add a screenshot and the link of this area?

    5— Hmm that is not possible for the moment but we will add that option on future updates.

    1 - thx :) solved

    2 - well Ylli, I am able to insert icons via the VC, but this is not what I want to do, since I have to take considerations about formal layout first; this is like seeing an icon as a stand-alone-design-element. But I just want to insert an icon from the library in plain text, showing up just like a charakter... (my former theme offered shortcodes for this like [icon="bicycle"])

    4 - Please have a look here at the bootom of the page. the postcard icon is inserted "as is" without any CSS box properties. however, it is only aligend left with the text block beneath, because I added 9px margin to the text block. why that?

    6 - question to quote blog entry: do I have to mark the quote as quote? it seems to work also without an explicit quote format (until the first CRLF is found?) ? how can I style the quote-source different from the quote, eg. in font-size like seen in http://demo.kaliumtheme.com/main/fun-with-physics-in-data-visualization/

    Thanks in advance for your comments,
    Robert

    Hi Robert,

    Sorry for the delay of the answer, as we were on holidays break and support team was partly active. Now we are back and able to help with any issue.

    1— Great :)

    2— Hmm our theme doesn't offer any option like that for the moment, you can add icons by VC only.

    4— This is how the Visual Composer handles this, if you want to align the icon a little left then maybe you can use this CSS and paste on that page Custom CSS area:

    .vc_icon_element.vc_icon_element-outer .vc_icon_element-inner {
        width: 3.5em !important;
        height: 3.5em !important;
    }

    6— You just need to select a Quote post and it will automatically make the quote icon http://drops.laborator.co/1gejD

    Hi Ylli,

    no problems with delays, since the sun was shining the whole day and I had no desire of spending any time in front of my PC after work.

    Well, as I have some serious problems with Kalium,let's move on to these:

    6 - it definitely does not how you describe it. I have the following in my test-quote post:

    The eye should learn to listen before it looks.
    <h6><em> - Robert Mapplethorpe (1946 – 1989)</em></h6>
    Robert Mapplethorpe was an American photographer who became known for his large-scale photographic images. His series of homoerotic portraits were subject to much controversy.

    Have a look here, how it is presented to the viewer: http://www.refro.at/refroto/wp2/?p=147

    The cloue to get it diplayed properly is to format the quote as quote in the WP editor!? What's wrong?

    7 - Could you please desribe the logic of size-adaption, which is applied to the images in a gallery post?

    Look here: http://www.refro.at/refroto/wp2/?p=102

    All my images are sized to FullHD, either in height or width, but keep their original proportion and are not stretched or trimmed. Kalium does some stretching to full witdh AND also a trimming in height when displayed in a gallery post. How can I avoid or customize this behavior?

    The easiest way for me would be to get the images diaplayed as they are, with no adaptions made at all. The images should "behave" in the "header-viewer" just as when I click on the image to extend them to real size and click through.

    8 - Why isn't there a preview picture displayed for gallery posts in the blog roll / post overview? Doesn't look that nice! Applying a preview picture in the gallery makes no difference in the blog roll (beside changing the first picture displayed in the gallery-post itself).

    Thanks for your support,

    Robert

    8 - well Ylli, it's not that complicated:

    Have a look at my blog roll: http://www.refro.at/refroto/wp2/

    There's a (gallery type) post called "Das Bootshaus in Traunkirchen". The preview icon just shows 2 iconic images :(

    Since it's a gallery post containing pictures I as ask myself, why Kalium doesn't display one of the embedded gallery images, for instance the very first one? This would behave in the same manner as a normal image post (with a specified featured image, which is taken as the preview image in the blog roll)?

    Kind regards,

    Robert

    Hi Robert,

    I updated some of your plugins

    (view large version)

    Please remember to update plugins every time when thy are available after you update the theme

    We will check if we can do something in this area for the future updates, for the moment you should add a featured image only and the image of that post will appear on the Blog page.
