Child theme, Visual Composer

    Hello Laborator -

I have four questions concerning setting up the theme:

    1. I have installed both the parent and the child theme. Do I have to install and activate the plugins from both of them or do I only install and activate them from the parent theme?

    2. Where do I update the plugins, and where do I install new, other plugins?

    3. Usually, the parent theme remains untouched while any changes are made only to the child theme, right? But I read somewhere that I am supposed to work on the Kalium parent theme. That can't be right, can it?

    4. When trying to activate my license for Visual Composer it says that no license can be found. What do I do?

Thank you and greetings! And have a nice day!

    Stefan

    Hi Stefan,

1— Child theme is used only when a client wants to customize the core theme files (code them). So when user want to edit any file it will move that file on the child theme and edit it, then when client updates the theme changes will not loose.

The same plugins are used for both of them, there is not any option to install the plugins for both.

2— When we update the theme, if there is an updated version of Revolution Slider, Layer Slider or WooCommerce you can update them by going to Appearance > Theme Options (this option will not show if there is not any plugin update)

3— You can use Parent theme if you don't plan to edit core theme files. Usually users don't even install Child themes because they don't need it.

4— Premium plugins don’t allow us to give customers our license number, so on each premium plugin such as Visual Composer, Revolution Slider and Layer Slider update we release a new update to our theme with the latest version of that plugin included, and customers don’t need to worry about that,

*You never need to buy any premium plugins that comes with our theme*

    Hi Ylli -

    thanks for the quick reply!

So just to be sure: I will activate the plugins on the parent theme, and I will not need to do so on the child theme?

(I definitely do need a child theme)

    Thanks again!

    Stefan

    Hi Stefan,

If theme shows you a message that you need to activate those plugins you just need to activate them.

    Makes sense. Will do!

    Thanks,

    Stefan
