	}
}

I saw that you have changed:

if ( is_post_type_archive( 'portfolio' ) ) {

To:

if ( is_post_type_archive( 'projects' ) ) {

And it was not applied, because originally the projects have "portfolio" post type and it will always be saved like that. So now your menu skin is applied properly.

Don't forget to copy the code when you update theme and place it again in functions.php
