I now have a slider on the homepage, but I'd like to have a coloured background with a smaller image and an enter button. Tried it in Revolution slider but it doesn't work full screen on mobile devices.
one morge thing, on desktop my image covers my screen but on mobile my image displays half my screen so I have a lot of space under image. Do you know how I can solve this?
As i said earlier, you need to send us your WP credentials, or remove coming soon mode anytime when you make a question because we need to see your site in order to give you the proper answer.

How do I change the background-colour of the homepage only? (All the other pages will be white.)

This i how Revolution Slider handles sliders. Maybe you can tweak this on the slider settings.
I removed slider and just put in image into a blank page with a coloured background...

This is not a problem, this is how Visual Composer works, it can't just put things on the middle when there is only one image.
