Please go to your Laborator > System Status page and check if your PHP version is 7.x or 8.x and if some of your PHP limits are lower than WordPress and modern themes require.

P.S. It is always recommended to start a new theme in a fresh WordPress install. You can reset your WordPress installation by using this plugin WordPress Reset (By WebFactory Ltd) and then activate the theme and try to install demo content again.
Please note that everything will be lost if you have already created anything on that site.
