Kalum specific privacy policy

WordPress is helpful, under settings/privacy, in declaring a privacy policy, depending on WordPress and used plugins (such as Ninja Forms, just to mention one).

The WordPress settings/privacy   page states among others:

Please edit your privacy policy content, making sure to delete the summaries, and adding any information from your theme and plugins.

So in order to provide correct and complete information to end-users, my question towards you is if there are any Kalium specific privacy policy elements I need to be aware of and publish to comply with related laws (the European GDPR among others)?

Thanks in advance for your reply,
    Lieven

    Hi Lieven,

Kalium Contact Form element offers the privacy policy area where you can add text about your site privacy policy to show when submitting the form. You can also include links so users can be directed to another page where you have added privacy policy information.

Surely that when you add Youtube links, Google Maps, etc, you need to add that information on your Privacy policy page.

    Thanks!

    Hi Ylli,

Thanks. I am aware of any privacy policy I can specify or refer to in the contact form, that I also can create a dedicated privacy page, a disclaimer page, etc.

However, my reasoning is that Wordpress relies on it's specific technology with underlaying usage of cookies, storage of all kinds of data in the database, etc.
Kalium as a theme might in a deviating way store end user related data .

    So my questions remains actually:

    - what is involved specific when using the Kalium theme

    - how long are privacy sensitive data eventually stored

    - is Kalium theme privacy related information part of what is exportable in WordPress under Tools / Export Personal Data

    - Etc.

I am thus specifically after text dealing with Kalium related privacy. Nothing in general thus. For the general stuff, Wordpress goes as much as possible in detail under Settings / Privacy. In the same way I find specific privacy related info when using particular plugins. So far I didn't find anything particular on the Kalium theme, hence my question.

    Thanks again,

    Lieven

    Hi Lieven,

Kalium doesn't collect any sensitive information. The only thing that Kalium theme collects is:

When you register Kalium theme, it saves your site URL and your theme version, those are needed so it can verify the purchase and updates can be made. Kalium doesn't store any other information.

    Thanks!

OK, thanks. But the contact form still stores the data the end user provided as Wordpress normally does. Correct?

    Thanks again Ylli.

    Hi Lieven,

I just talked with our developer team and they say Contact Form only sends email and doesn't save any data.

    Thanks for your understanding.

Nice to read you again, Ylli.

Thanks for asking. All looks clear now.

As future reference for those who might rely on NinjaForms (which can be used when installing the Kalium theme): cfr. https://ninjaforms.com/blog/gdpr-compliance-wordpress-forms/ for their input on privacy laws. It is an option for instance to have messages stored or not.

This ticket can be closed. Thanks once more and have a nice day!
