Hey, just a quick question. Do I really need to purchase the Multilingual CMS version of WPML to be able to translate all contents of my page, because the Multilingual Blog version doesn't support translation of custom fields?

    Thanks!

    Hi JuliusNiedermeier,

If your site uses multiple languages at once then you need to install this plugin because WordPress doesn't support multiple languages for the same post or string.

However if your site uses only one language then you don't need to install that plugin. Use Loco Translate plugin (which is free and very easy to use) to translate strings of the theme.

Thanks for the tip, but Loco Tanslate seems to only allow theme translation, not posts. I need a full translation system like WPML or Weglot. I would prefer using the basic version of WPML for pricing reasons, however that version doesn't support translation of custom fields. If I install WPML with the basic plan, will I be able to also translate the custom portfolio fields with that version?

    Hi JuliusNiedermeier,

I don't really know what is included in the WPML plans but you can ask anyone from they support if the basic plan includes "custom type meta".

    Best regards,
