This website is since 2014 without any updates, the current version is 1.0. This happened because it left without a person responsible for maintenance since it was created. Now, as the new technical responsible for the website, I want to upgrade to the latest version. Will I have problems with the content in the update? What is the best way to do this?
Wow, interesting, we have released 67 updates since then (read changelog).
The easiest way to update your theme is if you use Envato Market plugin (screenshot). When you connect Envato Market plugin you will see theme update prompt on the Updates tab of your Wordpress site.
After you update the theme, you need to update premium plugins too. To update those plugins to the latest version that we support, just go to Appearance > Install Plugins.
If you have any problem please don't hesitate to reply, and send us your Wordpress credentials.
To include your credentials click Insert Credentials button in editor toolbar (see how) so your reply will be private.
If you have modified the theme only inside the Wordpress area (Theme Options, Custom CSS, installed plugins etc) you don't need to worry, but if you have changed core theme files such as PHP, JS, or CSS files then they need to backup them and after the update apply the same changes again.
Please read the Envato Market notification and do as it recommends (see video), then when you connect the plugin as it should, the updates the theme updates should show.
That is happening because you have modified your theme name, and the plugin is not recognising your theme as Oxygen.
Please contact the same person that had modified your theme to update the theme for you.
You can update your theme from the FTP too.
P.S: Please be aware as by doing that if something happens like miss-editing files the responsibility is yours and we won't support you on finding the problem, as we are only guiding you how to get the results you need.
