Hi, I need to update the theme but wanted to be sure of something before I do.
On the WordPress update page it says "Please Note: Any customizations you have made to theme files will be lost. Please consider using child themes for modifications."
Do I need to do anything before hitting the update button? I haven't added any custom code but I don't want to lose the way that I have set up the theme options, pages etc.
If you have modified the theme only inside the Wordpress area (Theme Options, Custom CSS, installed plugins etc) you don't need to worry, but if you have changed core theme files such as PHP, JS, or CSS files then they need to backup them and after the update apply the same changes again.
