You cannot have a button which will open the sidebar menu, you can only select if you want to use a standard, full screen or a sidebar menu and that's how you can show the sidebar from the menu trigger.
1. Can you please try to be very specific about the question and explain it more to us, in this way we can easily understand you and give you the proper answer
2. Go to Appearance > Menus and create a new menu, then under Appearance > Widgets select the Navigation Menu to the blog sidebar and then select the new menu you created:

Hi again,
I am sorry as I have missed this option, talked with the team and found out that this feature has been included in our recent demos.
Keep that option ticked, and select any other menu while you can go to *Appearance > Menus* and tick this option *CSS Classes*:
And then under the menu item which you want to open the sidebar add these classes to it:

Hi, Thank you, that worked. Few issues though -
Issue 1 - It's a bit glitchy.
Steps to recreate - Enable sticky header
open sidebar on a page when the normal header is active (top of the page)
scroll with side bar open and then close side bar
the sticky header's logo and menus are misaligned
issue 2 - now that i can open the side menu, it still shows all the menu items of the main header.
when going to wp>customise>menus there's no option to add a menu specific to the sidebar.
it says your theme supports 2 menus.
Making the sidebar redundant.
I have previously used themes that allow you to customize the sidebar separately, would be great if it could be implemented here.
