This is valid for your default shop page, if you have a page which you have manually created and manage the products with the WPBakery Page Builder then there is another way to do it. I've created a category page with a page builder, and it doesn't allow me to have side bar product filters. So how can I add a widget area on a custom page with page builder.
Unfortunately in a page built with WPBakery Page Builder you cannot filter the products from the sidebar, you can apply the sidebar to default WooCommerce categories which are created automatically when you create a category and the filter will be applied there too, here is a live example on one of our demos:
