It is not possible to have the wishlist counter, by using the wishlist you can only have them in a list of products which you want to buy and that's the purpose of it.

Is there any alternative?
As I mentioned in my previous ticket, it is not possible to have a counter in the wishlist through the wishlist options or theme options.
