Just a quick question, I might be mistaken, but did i read that Kalium can perform image size optimization automatically during upload? Or do i still need to optimize all images before upload to under 200k in photoshop manually?

    thx

    Hi imarkets,

Theme automatically server the images that it needs because Kalium Supports Adaptive Images technology:

    (view on new page)

So on each screen size a different image size will show, that dramatically increases the speed of the site.

    Have a nice day!

ok thats interesting.. I am planning a big portfolio project with many images, so I want to completely understand the Adaptive Images completely before i start preparing my content. IT is a major reason i bought this theme.

Do i just upload the original images, or pre optimize in psp like i usually do to <200kb?

Because in your example, if the original uploaded image is 1024x900 with size 2mb... the technology serves image at 700kb for desktop, 410k laptop, 256kb tablet and 128kb mobile. But this is still very big sizes for optimized images of those screen sizes isn't it?

For good page loading speed, I usually pre-optimize images much smaller in psp before uploading.... a full screen image will be max 200kb (1920x1080). and smaller dimension will be even smaller kb when I do it manually.

If a full screen image (1920x1080) is served at >410kb I thought it is too big for laptop screensize to achieve fastest page-load. It should be approx 180-200kb?

My question is - Will adaptive Image serve to approx 180-200kb or biggerr than this size? Or am I wrong when I optimize original images in psp to only <200kb before I upload?

(I understand scaled sizes will vary depending on the original size, but if I will upload the originals I don't want to find out after that the scaled sizes are too large file size, compared to best practice. Because this would mean the Adaptive Images technology is not good enough feature, and so I will have to do it all manually again myself.)

    Please explain in more detail?

    thank you

    Hi imarkets,

Wordpress automatically "crop" images and optimize them (if the image is not optimized).

You can upload original image and then place it in your portfolio project for example, then go to your project and open the image in the new tab and download it. See it's size and if the size is bigger than you think it should be then you can upload images that are 1920x1080 for example.

    Thanks!

    Have a great weekend!

    hi ylli,

I know that WP crops images. I want to understand what your Adaptive Image feature is, and how it works? I just tested, by uploading an original image of 10mb. I did  your suggestion

"then go to your project and open the image in the new tab and download it. See it's size and if the size is bigger than you think it should be "

The downloaded file is still 10mb.

If I upload a full size image what does your Adaptive Image feature automatically to do an image?

    Hi imarkets,

For sure that when you open the image in a new tab it will be 10MB. Please upload Images that are maximim 1MB and you will be Ok.

    Thanks!
