Is there a way to have the portfolio gallery drop down, or have a color background behind the menu to make it more visible? I love this functionality but it needs to be easier to read. Thanks!
Sorry I realize my second question wasn't clear (how to apply the same functionality to the generic archive page if possible). I used a custom query to hide some portfolio categories on the portfolio page called "Work Samples." I was hoping to show/hide portfolio category items in the category filter on the archive page also...? Thanks again, P
You have selected certain categories but on front-end you see more, reason is that portfolio items belongs to that category that is not selected from list below.
Visibility: I would recommend not to add custom background we can try to keep them horizontal all time.

There is some conflict first of all you don't have to use WPBakery (Page Builder) with use Element Portfolio Items and Pate Template Portfolio Page.
Lets take If you don't want to show some categories in Portfolio Page (case: Page Template: Portfolio Page),
From area of Portfolio Settings -> Select From Category
(view large version)
