Thanks for following up. That's super helpful, but to clarify, is the only way to have scroll animations to display portfolio items on the page? If so, then do I have to create a separate item for each image I want to have displayed and then use categories to filter which images are displayed here as compared to other places that I want a portfolio? Is there any way to just upload a bunch of images (almost like a blog post of images) but have the images display the animation? Thanks!

You can do that on each portfolio item under Parameters and Options > Portfolio Gallery and select the reveal effect, see attached image:
