What is the best way to edit template code? Client wants some additional changes on the template and although editing the code through FTP isn't a struggle, I'm afraid that my changes will get lost once you update the template remotely. Is there any safe way to perform these edits?

    Thank you

    Hi mrajkovic,

If you want to modify theme a bit then it's recommended to edit it through Child theme. Please read this article for more info (the article is made for Kalium theme but the same things stand for every theme).

P.S: Please be aware as by doing customization if something happens like miss-editing files the responsibility is yours and we wont support you on finding the problem, as we are only guiding you how to get the results you need.

Understood. I went ahead and activate Child theme, but I'm not sure where to edit PHP now. On FTP, there are only 3 files inside the template folder (functions.php / screenshot.png / style.css) - same goes for Editor in Wordpress admin.

I do fully understand that by modifying the code, I'm voiding your support - no worries there.

    Hi mrajkovic,

You can add your PHP modifications on the functions.php file.

If you're looking for professional help in this matter, there's always someone available for such tasks on the WP Kraken or Codeable. Pricing and timeline are always straightforward there and that's the main reason for recommending those services.

    Thank you!
