    Hi,

I'm new to wordpress. Am I to understand that in order to use your theme I need to have a wordpress business account that charges $25 a month? Is there another way to install your theme on my site?

If not, once the theme is installed and customized, can I downgrade my wordpress account to a cheaper subscription or will I have to pay the business subscription for the entire time I want to use an external theme.

    Thanks for clarifying these issues.

    Hi there,

As I can see you are using WordPress.com service, the other way (which most of our users use) is to download WordPress.org and install it in your server, most of servers already have a quick-installer so you can easily install WordPress platform on them and you won't have subscription fees, here you can see comparison between WordPress.com and WordPress installed on servers

    Hi Art,

    Thanks for your reply.

I managed to install wordpress and the theme on my hosting.

I'm having problems installing and editing the demo content.

When I try to install any of the themes such as Main Demo or Photography the process does not always complete succesfully. Even when it says it has completed succesfully I do not have the exact demo site on my site, but most of the time images are missing, the menus are different, etc. You can take a look now at http://test.isaac-katz.com/ I just tried installing the main demo theme.

Also even with this partial install Im having trouble editing the contents. For example something as simple as choosing the media I want for the portfolio or slider in the homepage - I have no idea how to do it, and I havent found in your documentation where it says it in a simple manner. I just want to choose from the images I already uploaded to my media folder but I cant see an easy way to do this.

    Kindly awaiting your reply,

    Hi there,

I can see you have installed demo contents over one and another, this is not the way you should install these demo contents, once you install one and want to use another one please make sure you will firstly reset your site and install the new one on a fresh site. This is because all of your content will be messed up and duplicated.

You can reset your Wordpress installation by using this plugin Wordpress Reset (By Matt Martz) and then activate the theme and try to install demo-content again.

Can you also tell us which problems you are having when trying to add the demo content, as you mentioned you are having some issues.

    Best regards,

Ok sure ill try that, I didnt know I had to reset the site first.

Even the first time I tried to install the demo content the process did not complete succesfully for some reason and when I tried again and it did complete succesfully I think it got messed up because it was already over the previous unsuccesful installation.

What I mean is that when I tried to install the demo content it gave a small X in the process window that opens up on the first item 'wordpress content' then the pop up went blank and when I checked the page the demo was not installed correctly. And after trying over that it never did.

I will try resetting the site and trying again but afraid the same thing will happen.

Can you also please explain to me in simple terms how I can change the media for the slider and portfolio that are on the home page of the main Kalium theme. I simply want to put my own pictures there instead of the ones that come with the theme, thats it.

    Thanks,

    Hi Art,

I tried following your instructions and the demo content install failed again. I reset the site, activated the theme and on a fresh install it did the same thing, see attached screenshots - first you get an x on wordpress content, then the pop up goes blank. You can see the current site to see what im left with - http://test.isaac-katz.com/

Im attaching also the system status so you can see im well over the requirements in terms of my hosting.

Please let me know how to proceed.

    Hi again,

I want to try it, can you please tell me which demo you want to install so I will see if that happens or not, most of the times the demo import errors are related to servers that with low limits but I will need to see it further.

Can you please share your site credentials here, because we need to login to your site and see this issue live. Your information is safe (private) in this thread.

To include your credentials click Insert Credentials button in editor toolbar. (See how)

    Hi there,

I was able to install the demo content on the first try, there wasn't any issue with it so it was installed within a minute.

    Hi Art,

Yes it is indeed working now. Strange that it wasnt working on my end (I didint make up the screenshot after all).

I would really appreciate it if you can answer these questions:

    1. How can I easily and quickly change the images that are currently on the homepage portfolio gallery? Going to the portfolio tab and editing one item at a time is not a good solution. I want to choose 50 images and have those in the portfolio

    2. How can I make the portfolio full width? Checking 'Extend portfolio container to the browser edge' In the theme options does not do it or is not working for some reason.

    3. How can I customize the color scheme of the theme, for example the green overlay that comes up on the portfolio when hovering over an image, if I would like to change the color or disable the overlay where can I do this?

    4. Where are the rest of the header options? I only see 4 listed in the theme options but 9 listed on your website. Where is minimal, fullscreen, etc?

    Hi again,

    1. That's how portfolios work and each theme will portfolio has the same procedure that you will need to follow in order you want to change the portfolio items.

    2. Portfolio items are added in different ways, if you have set up a portfolio through the Portfolio page the extend feature will work but as you can see the elements are added via WPBakery Page Builder and here the extend feature will not work so I had to edit the row and set it to Stretch row and content as you can see below:

    3. Please follow our documentation articles, there you can find out many articles that most of users find helpful.

    4. Header types when combined make up all the advertised headers, there are four main header types and if you use the features inside them they will lead to all these header types. If you select the standard menu for example and then select the Show menu links only when clicking menu bar then you will have a minimal menu.

    Hi Art,

That doesn't make sense to me. There must be a an easy way to add multiple new or existing images to a portfolio. This is not rocket science. Also how are you supposed to have different images for different portfolios on different pages if all you can do is edit items in the portfolio page?

    Please clarify,

  • ikatz replied

Please also let me know how I can revert back to the portfolio the way I had it so I can choose later whether to keep the fullscreen or not. Please explain this to me STEP by STEP, as I am not familiar with all the ins and outs of wordpress. Regards,

    Hi there,

Of course it is not rocket science as we are not building rockets but websites. In the list of 4 answers which I tried to explain step by step you did not specify which of these answers is not clear for you so that would be easier for us also and we would know where you are having problems.

    Sure,

Say I upload 50 images to my media library. How can I create a portfolio that has a specific 25 of those images and one that has another 25 of those. (Im unclear how I can choose the images I want to appear on a specific porfolio out of my media library.)

Also, please let me know how I can revert to homepage portoflio back to the way it was (not fullwidth).

    Kind regards,

    Hi there,

You cannot batch upload images inside portfolio items, as I have mentioned before you have to upload images one by one since each of them in the portfolio has it's own settings like name, attributes and more and each of them needs to be checked carefully.

Regarding the portfolio, I have explained in my last reply (2) how portfolio can be extended and if you want to get it back simply set it to Default, you have the explanation in the photo.

    Hi,

I dont know what you mean by 'extended'.

I did not understand this repluy - 2. Portfolio items are added in different ways, if you have set up a portfolio through the Portfolio page the extend feature will work but as you can see the elements are added via WPBakery Page Builder and here the extend feature will not work so I had to edit the row and set it to Stretch row and content as you can see below:

I dont know how to reach the settings you have in the photo.

Please just restore the portfolio to the way it was. Thanks.

    Hi Art

I have managed to change the portfolio back.

I went through every single option in the Theme Options section as well as the rest of the wordpress site. A few questions remain:

    1. How can I choose which portoflio items appear on which portfolios (say one portfolio is on homepage and one is on another page, want different items in each according to portfolio item category).

    2. How can I make a portfolio item from the gallery link to a product page - so in homepage if I click on an image in the gallery instead of going to the portfolio item details I want to be taken to a product page I choose (I have an example on the site with Flora Deslumbra, which is visible as a portfolio item now on the homepage and there is also a product).

    3. How can I change the homepage so it does not show product items below the portfolio gallery

    4. The logo on the homepage does not seem to change from default Kalium. Everywhere else on the site it is working properly.

    5. How can I change the font for menu and footer items as well as the title in products and portoflio items, and the titles in portfolio gallery hover, etc.

    Thanks a lot Art!
