I see that you're using the Child theme of Kalium, if you haven't changed the theme files before then you don't need to worry about the update, please take some time to read about the advantages of using the child theme, you won't loose any of the changes and your Custom CSS will not be affected by the updates.
It seems you haven't checked it all, the automatic updates are there and available to everyone and to prove that I just logged into your site and updated your theme in less than 20 seconds to Kalium 2.1.3 so they're working for you too.
You don't have to be worried when updating the theme even if using the normal theme unless you do changes in the theme files, but using the child theme protects you even against this.
So now your site is using the latest version and is working fine.
I think I didn't make myself clear enough in what my concern is. Sorry for that.
I'm not concerned about if I can make the updates. I'm concerned about how I do make the updates without affecting my customisation, which was what I was asking. How can I do it without so.
As to what automatic updates exactly mean, I think we don't define them the same way. To me, automatic updates would be updates that just start by themselves when they are available. Seemingly, you have to technically allow the process by clicking on some button somewhere to update Kalium, right?
Finally, I understand you can update the theme without affecting your customisation. I've followed the guidelines in that regard. However, I haven't understand it all. I'm still wondering how you update the theme without changing my customisation.
You did it yourself on my wordpress. What did you do exactly to do that? That's all I want to know and all I want to understand.
The automatic updates are updates that will appear in the admin screen and notify you that there is an update, just like when updating your operative system on your phone when there is a new update it will let you know about that and you will have to proceed to the update by clicking "I agree", it's the same for WordPress themes, that's how it works as it is not legal just to update theme without the knowledge of the site owner.
Regarding the update without loosing any customization, as I have explained in this ticket before you do not have any customization that will be lost because your customizations are from the Theme Options like changing the color, fonts or so, you will loose your changes only if you do advanced customizations when you are a programmer or designer that you want to personalize your site but in your case there is nothing you have to worry about, I have updated the theme just like I do in the documentation link I've provided, since I have recorded these videos then that is the whole procedure.
Hopefully it is clear for you when there is a risk to update the theme, when you modify the theme code and do not use the child theme but as I said in your case there is nothing to be afraid of when updating, since you haven't modified the theme!
Hi there,
I received a notification about the Kalium 2.1.3 release.
I'd like to update it on my wordpress.
I read different forum posts and your articles about how to update the theme.
My concern is how do I make sure to update the theme without messing up the customization I spent days to work on?
I use Kalium 2.1.2's child theme as advised on your site.
Cheers,
Gerry

OK great thanks for that.
I'm just wondering. How should I do then?
Should I just update Kalium's main theme in Wordpress?
I downloaded the package and there is everything, the child theme included?
Is there anything I should do before updating whatever I need to update? Like the option.txt for example?
It's still confusing to me to be honest.
Cheers,
Gerry
Hi Gerry,
There is no need to update it manually when we have automatic updates, for more please follow the instructions when updating the theme.

That's the thing. I don't have automatic updates.
I've also read through the guidelines for updates.
I want to update my Kalium theme to 2.1.3, but I don't want to screw up the work I did on the child theme that I use as the activated theme.
I understand the concept of using the child theme to protect your work.
One thing I don't understand though is what do you do then when you want to update your theme without overwriting your customization?
Thanks,
Gerry

Thank you very much indeed Art for all the clarification. It makes more sense now!
I'll feel more comfortable with customising the site through the theme options and with the updates.
All the best,
Gerry
You're welcome Gerry,
Will set this ticket as solved from here.
