    Hi,

No matter what I try, all my pages take forever to load. I only have a masonry media grid in it and a few html widgets.

The lazy load option (masonry media grid option) doesn't seem to work as the page randomly loads all the pictures and wait for all of them to be downloaded to show the content...

I have tried a lot of plugin to no avail.

On another note, google tells me that the site tries to load too many external css and needs to leverage browser caching.

The problem appears on these pages :

    http://www.guillaumecottet.com/renders/

    http://www.guillaumecottet.com/stills/

    http://www.guillaumecottet.com/drawings/

    http://www.guillaumecottet.com/motion/

    Thanks by advance !

    Guillaume

    Hi Guillaume,

I have just checked your site, and told another colleague to check it and from the preview I can see that it works great and it does not take too much to load as you say, it took more time to load where the scripts with SoundCloud and Vimeo were included but after 1 second it loaded all the content.

You can test up your site speed here, also please consider taking a look at this article we wrote in our documentation as it may help you speed up your site.

    Best regards,
    Laborator Team

Thanks Art. My performance grade is still C, not that brilliant according to pingdom... I'll trust you on that.

Another question, do you know why my vimeo medias (on my motion page) are not displayed in 16:9 but 4:3 even though the video player is well configured ? It used to be perfect but came out like this since the last update...

    Thanks again.

No worries, it went back to normal.

My last question is about the sticky header, since update it simply disappeared and is not showing anymore even when the option is enabled...

More on that, the sticky Header seems to appear when scrolling down slowly but it doesn't "stick" to the top of the window... Very strange.

After further investigation, I had to disable the "sticky header" option completely from the laborator menu as it prevented lazy loading to function properly (pictures did not load after scrolling)... I am at a loss here.

I have found a simple plugin to mimic the sticky header function, I'll hang to it until your investigation.

    Thanks again.

    Hi there,

The whole issue is because you have a Text logo on the Branding area of Theme Options, while in the sticky header you have uploaded an image, to see it live I have set the logo by default and then I disabled the plugins Sticky Menu (or Anything!) on Scroll and BJ Lazy Load, they will cause conflicts with the theme, as you can see the sticky now is working but the logo is different so you have to choose another normal logo.

Thanks Art ! Everything is back to normal now. The only issue I get now is that I can't access the plugin page from the administration panel...

For a strange reason the "plugins.php" section redirects to "admin.php?page=laborator-about". I can't see my installed plugins anymore... Very strange, I don't know if it's a bug from the latest version.

PS : Can you confirm that lazy loading is indeed working on my page ? I still get awful grades from speedtest websites.

Please disregard my question about the plugin section, it is now back to normal... God I feel silly saying that all the time.

Would still love a feedback on lazy loading though, now that BJ is uninstalled.

    Hi there,

What would you like to know about the lazy loading? Have you had a chance to read our article about site speed, and how you can speed it up?

Already looked at your guide and installed the required plugins.

I still find that the masonry media grid (on lazy load) loads everything instead of the visible content only... I don't understand why.

    Hi grand_can,

I am sorry but I don't get what's wrong with the Lazy Load, can you please specify more because when viewing your site to me it seems okay as it is loading all the images, maybe I don't get the real issue.

    Hey Art,

The way I understand "lazy load" is that it ONLY LOADS the content that is visible in the window of the user's screen (or a predefined number of elements first). When the user begin scrolling down - and ONLY then - the site fetches and loads the next media below. Obviously, It helps alleviate the bandwidth usage while reducing pages loading time.

So, sure, on my site every picture is shown one after another as you scroll down like a lazy loading feature would do. However, according to the Google web development tools (F12 on chrome), every masonry media grid on my site still loads EVERY PICTURE in a random order, regardless of what is visible on the screen prior to showing something. Sometimes it even loads the last pictures first and wait for everything to be downloaded to show the gallery on the screen !

Obviously, it doesn't help with the loading times at all. On a steady internet connection, everything seems fluid. On a mobile phone or a slow connection, the loading times are really awful. My scores on Pingdom are self explanatory (C or D most of the time).

Maybe I am missing something here, but it seems like a broken feature to me.

    Thanks again for your time.

    Hi there,

Now I understand the whole situation, the lazy loader looks like it's working (from the animation) but actually it isn't lazy loading since the images load all at once. Since the Masonry Media Grid and other elements on Visual Composer are built by the wpbakery team I have searched through their support center and found somebody else has asked the same question 3 days ago.

Thanks for this Art ! That was exactly my concern. Sorry for the drama, I didn't know it was a problem on wpbakery side, I'll continue my investigations with them.

Thanks again for everything, this ticket is closed for me.
