I noticed that my images folders have a total of 19(!) copies of each image I upload, in various dimensions. My website storage will soon be full due to this. Can the amount of images be reduced? It seems excessive to have as much as 20 images including the orginal.
To generate images only when there is a need for it use the SwiftDynamicThumbs plugin, give this plugin a try and you should see the difference.
From our experience this is the best plugin we know about this issue, it will not delete the old ones but it will not create new ones for the new images you create.
What do you suggest I do with the existing images? Is there a way to delete and regenerate the thumbnails, not having to upload and place my images again?
It seems to work fine for normal pages. Pages load fine and have less thumbnails in the image database. But is does not work for portfolio items.
Newly uploaded images in a portfolio are all screwed up; they are all formatted square, regardless of there original size, or disregarded altogether. Item thumbnail is deleted in the portfolio list as well.
Even worse: the plugin screws up existing portfolio pages as well. Disableing the plugin does not solve this problem: I have to regenerate all images in the media library that are appearing in a portfolio item in order to make it work again.
Yes. I upgraded and now I have enough MB's. So the image sizes and amounts are not an issue anymore.
Other solutions would cost me a lot of time and most probable cause similar issues in the long run, so I got an upgrade in serverspace (among other things). It turned out to be the most cost effective solution.
Okay then Rob, glad to hear that you fixed the issue with bandwidth. If you have any further issues with the theme do not hesitate to create a new ticket.

Hi again,
There is also this Media Cleaner plugin which helps you clean unused media and media which is not attached anywhere, you can give it a try.

Hi,
No avail... I upgraded my hosting for more serverspace.
Best, Rob
Hi Rob,
So is your issue with the hosting space resolved or not?
