    Could you compare these two links please:
    https://www.constantinflux.com/portfolio/#live
    and
    https://www.constantinflux.com/portfolio-category/live/

    I am wondering why on the second link I can't see the content of my other portfolio categories when I click on them on the top right of the gallery, while on the first link it works as I expected.

    I added the second link to my main menu (added from design/menus and chose portfolio category/live) and people started to notify me that they can't browse in my portfolio because when they clicked on the top right categories (for example clicking 'all' or 'street') after accessing 'live' via the main menu they only got empty pages.

    Is this working as intended? What would you propose I do about this?
    Did I set something up wrong?
    Thank you.

    Hi nuraugen

    https://www.constantinflux.com/portfolio/#

    Different between to links is that first link is Page and has capabilities to filter many categories from links ( menu build with portfolio categories) by using jquery libraries. it loads all articles this is why can filter from any category.

    second links : https://www.constantinflux.com/portfolio-category/live/

    i'm not sure have you have achieved to have that kind of layout, if you have edit the file we are not responsible for custom functions you build? but i will explain why you can not filter.

    You can not filter because you are in specific portfolio category, and it loads files only from that category in this case only from live.

    If you need further help i will please answer question above about if you have changed any file in theme.

    If you need further help please share with us your WP Credentials.

    To include your credentials click Insert Credentials button in editor toolbar. (See how)

    Thank you.

    I will ask my client for permission to give you access, but until then:

    How would I achieve the following?

    In my main menu, I'd like to have a menu called Portfolio with sub-menu items that link to the portfolio sub-categories.

    Like so:
    Portfolio v
       Livemusik (-> should link to Portfolio and filter to Portfolio-Category: Live)
       Portraitfotografie (-> should link to Portfolio and filter to Portfolio-Category: Portrait)
       Straßenfotografie (-> should link to Portfolio and filter to Portfolio-Category: Street)
       All (-> should link to Portfolio, i.e. all portfolio items)

    would I have to link to:

    https://www.constantinflux.com/portfolio/#live
    https://www.constantinflux.com/portfolio/#portrait
    https://www.constantinflux.com/portfolio/#street
    https://www.constantinflux.com/portfolio/

    or to

    https://www.constantinflux.com/portfolio-category/live/
    https://www.constantinflux.com/portfolio-category/portrait/
    https://www.constantinflux.com/portfolio-category/street/
    https://www.constantinflux.com/portfolio-category/

    via the menu set-up preferences in Wordpress?

    If I link to the '#portfolio-category', navigation to other portfolio sub-items via the main menu doesn't work any more once on the corresponding page. See site at the moment:
    - Go to site: http://www.constantinflux.com
    - Click hamburger menu.
    - Hover over 'Portfolio'
    - Click 'Bandfotografie'
    - Then click hamburger menu
    - Hover over 'Portfolio'
    - Click 'Straßenfotografie'
    -> Nothing happens
    I know that it isn't logical to filter portfolio categories via the main menu once on the portfolio page, but for UX front-end it both should work since the user doesn't know he is sorting and displaying portfolio categories. For all he knows, the user is accessing different 'pages' when clicking on 'Bandfotografie', 'Straßenfotografie' etc, and it shouldn't stop working either way. In other terms: clicking on a menu item without anything happening isn't desired and gives the impression something isn't working.

    Also:
    https://www.constantinflux.com/portfolio-category/ goes to a blog page and I don't understand why.

    Edit: I deleted the old theme folder and uploaded the newest release of Kalium via ftp and didn't change any file in the back-end since then. Using Kalium child theme.

    Hi nuraugen,

    I have managed to solve this issue. The problem was related to "Normal pagination", I have set it to "Endless pagination" and it solved the issue:

    (view large version)

    The problem is that on "Normal pagination" mode, only the filtered items will be shown, and when clicking other items, it doesn't have the ability to use "endless pagination" to browse other items.

    If you don't want this type of pagination, I can make portfolio filter links directly navigate to other pages when there are no items on the list.

    Arlind, thank you for your help.
    Endless scroll is ok for now. I'd have to take a look at how it influences SEO (accessibility) though.

    Should I open other tickets for the remaining issues in connection to the portfolio page?
    Those being:
    - https://www.constantinflux.com/portfolio-category/ links to a blog page (I guess I coul set up a rewrite rule to redirect this correctly, but wondering if this is intended by you guys)

    - the 'loading' icon and text that now appears during endless scroll loading when you sort the results seems broken (see images attached)

    - If you open the main full-screen menu while you are on the portfolio page you can't access sorting of hashtagged results (#portfoliotag). Directions:

    -> Go to site: http://www.constantinflux.com
    -> Click hamburger menu.
    -> Hover over 'Portfolio'
    -> Click 'Bandfotografie'
    -> Then click hamburger menu
    -> Hover over 'Portfolio'
    -> Click 'Straßenfotografie' or anything that links to a #portfoliotag
    -> Nothing happen

    Hi Nuraugen,

    No worries I will answer your questions here:

    1. This link: https://www.constantinflux.com/portfolio-category/ is not a valid link and has no meaning. It is simply a gateway to connect portfolio categories and the slug "portfolio-category" is taxonomy prefix. That can be changed on theme options:

    (view large version)

    2. This might be related to a Custom CSS. I've checked your site but you have removed it. If you want to fix it, please enable Endless pagination/

    3. I have replaced portfolio categories links with absolute URLs and it is working now:

    Thank you for your reply and explanation.
    1. understood

    2. it is still there for me and I didn't change anything in the Laborator options since I know you were still working on troubleshooting. I suspect you might have had the contents still in your cache and therefore the 'loading' and 'more' alerts don't show for you.
    Please open an incognito window in chrome or firefox and access the site. This should bypass your browser cache. Alternatively you could open the developers console in chrome and disable the cache and then reload the page: After pressing F12 or right-click and 'inspect element' click on 'Network' in the toolbar and find and check the box for: 'Disable Cache'. Be advised that this setting is applied only while you have the dev tools open.

    3. so you would advise against using category tags as menu options?

    4. is my original normal pagination/endless scroll issue (the one you fixed in you first post) considered a bug and being fixed in a future Kalium release?

  • [deleted] replied

    Hi Nuraugen,

    2. You can add this custom CSS:

    .show-more .button a,
    .show-more .button a:hover {
    color: #fff;
    }

    .show-more .button a:hover {
    background-color: #ca4d47;
    }

    (view large version)

    3. You can use either category hashtags, or absolute links of category. In the first case, you should provide entire portfolio url page + category hashtag (absolute link) otherwise it won't work properly.

    4. Actually I didn't added any fix, just used existing options, so no worries for future updates.

    I hope this will help you.

    Thank you.
    - I see we have a tiny misunderstanding. I was referring to the button in a state when there are no more portfolio items to load (I didn't realize this myself either because the text was in the same color as the button). The according html line is:

    <span class="finished"> Keine weiteren portfolio artikel zu zeigen </span>

    I guess in english this would be something like: "No more portfolio items to show".
    This line of text destroys the button since it bleeds out of the buttons bounds. You can't see this completely in the attached screenshot, since the font color is the same color as the background, but it is there. I think it would make more sense if the button would stretch with the text it countains.

    - Is my original issue (filtering of portfolio items after linking to a filtered view in the main menu not working in normal pagination mode) considered a bug?

  • [deleted] replied

    Hi again,

    1. Can you please add this CSS:

    .show-more.is-loading .button,
    .show-more.is-finished .button {
        background-color: transparent;
    }

    And the result is:

    (view large version)

    So now I guess this is an acceptable result for you?

    2. Normal pagination only shows a fixed number of items. And even thus there are categories above them shown, the items that are shown is fixed and AJAX request is not supported to retrieve other items, only by clicking the desired number on pagination. So, in this case the best way is to make the portfolio filter links redirecting to respective category rather than using JavaScript filtering which is not appropriate in this case because it will show fewer items, this way the client/visitor may end up thinking there are no projects/items to view at all.

    1. Yes. However, could you point me to the location of the German localization of this sentence in the source files of the theme, so I could tweak it a little bit if the need arises?

    2. Got it.

  • [deleted] replied

    Hi again,

    Sure, just install Loco Translate plugin, then navigate to Kalium translations, choose the language you are currently running.

    On the edit page, search for "No more" and then add your translation.

    If you think this sentence is badly written in German language, then I would be very thankful if you can provide the correct translation for this string.

    Hey there,

    Interesting! Is Loco compatible with Polylang?

    As proposals for the translation (and spell correction for that matter):

    Original translation:
    Keine weiteren portfolio artikel zu zeigen.

    Should read:
    Keine weiteren Portfolio Artikel zu zeigen.

    If you are looking for a more elegant/shorter solution I'd propose the following entries:

    Keine weiteren (Portfolio) Einträge.
    No more (portfolio) entries.

    Alle Einträge geladen.
    All entries loaded.

    Alle Portfolioeinträge geladen.
    All portfolio entries loaded.

    Ende der Einträge.
    End of entries.

    Ende des Datensatzes.
    End of dataset.

    Datensatz komplett.
    Dataset complete.

    In my opinion, you could easily leave out the 'portfolio' part of the sentence to save space, since the user knows where he is (usually). Also there are some variations that all are acceptable in German.
    I chose to list more positive sentences too to show the completion of the action, i.e. sentences that do not underline the 'end' attribute so much. For example: instead of "No more entries.": "All entries loaded".

  • [deleted] replied

    Hi nuraugen,

    I have added this string "Alle Einträge geladen" since it seems to be more appropriate.

    Here you can download translation files:

    http://drops.laborator.co/kSnX7

    As for Polylang, yes it is compatible, however the difference between Loco and Polylang is that Polylang adds a multilingual ability to WP while Loco Translate only works with translation files which in many cases is used for single language site, but also on multilingual sites as well.

    Many thanks for your efforts
